Wow! An 8k round walk to see the Bone Caves, worth every step 👣 A decent size car park, keep your eyes peeled, the small sign is easy to miss. I would recommend walking shoes 👞 As you would expect the terrain is uneven, a beautiful walk past waterfalls, and the river, leads to the stunning mountain ⛰️ scenery. A steep climb to the Caves but manageable 🚶♀️We were alone and felt like the top of the world!
The worst place we have ever visit. We where coming up from the waterfall. We visit this place at September and I do not recommend! The walkway start disapering after while because of rain. We where walking and after hour we even did not get close to it. After hour walk you have to hike up a steep hill and it is just hole in the mountine. Our shoes where ruined and wet. The worst walk ever!#nc500
Blink and you miss the entrance as it’s not signposted. Put in the postcode and it takes you to the car park, it is labelled as a coffee to take away but that’s closed. Many people state this is an easy walk, it’s NOT is an intermediate and is a graduated climb until you get to the base and from then on you need to be a mountain goat. It is well worth the walk it took us about an hour to get to, it is very rocky with a great little waterfall on route. As I said well worth it.
Definitely must visit! The trekking route to me was moderate: the most difficulty was the route was not flat, but there was no steep up and down.
The scenery on the route was stunning, I did really enjoyed it.
These caves are wickedly cool and well worth the long but lovely walk along the river. However the path near the end is steep, narrow, and comes with a rather sheer drop. If you are there on a frightfully windy day, as I was, be extra cautious. Coming around the shoulder of the mountain and into the wind, I very nearly took the short (and painful) way down. Keep a close eye on any littles you have with you.
Great walk to the caves and back, all together about 2 hrs slow walk. Really enjoyed the views.
Very nice walk. At the end quite steep to get to the caves. Wear good shoes, besides, I would only go to the very top if you are free from giddiness.
It has NO toilets at the parking lot. Go to the toilet before the walk and do not use the caves as a toilet!!!
Nice walk along a stream before ascending up to the caves. The caves are interesting (don't expect any bones) but the scenery around is breathtaking.
